Gloria Lamson was honored in 2007 to be one of the first Colorado Art Ranch artists in residence, in Salida, Colorado. Weaving between inside and outside, nature and architectural environments, she has worked extensively in the Western United States, Alaska and Hawaii. She was one of the first artists invited for inclusion at www.greenmuseum.org that serves the international community representing artists who work with nature. Featured in numerous publications and exhibitions since 1975, she has also created installations for the Bellevue Art Museum as well as several outdoor art parks in Washington State. Her work is included in many private collections as well as the public collections of the Washington State Arts Commission, 4Culture, King County Public Art in Washington state, and John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California.
About the DIA Project
Rarely do we joyfully greet the time when our life falls apart.
It seems far easier to sense what is lost than what wants to be born. In hindsight we might see how new possibilities grew out of the uncertain space of the chaotic fertile ground; like plants emerging from the earth made rich with the decay of past growth.
How is it possible to generate antidotes to our fears and resistance to change?
Perhaps by…
? Holding others and ourselves kindly in our disarray.
? Practicing curiosity during the often-disconcerting transformative process, which defies our attempts at control.
? Believing we are more than the structures that have contained us.
? Remembering that we too are part of the natural world, subject to the laws of regeneration and time.
This installation offers a visual metaphor to illuminate the inner terrain in the process of personal change. It suggests solace in the company of nature and the possibility of new forms emerging from what has previously fallen. The brightly wrapped vertical spaces represent us connecting to our essence within.

33 IDEAS!, an exhibit of art, writing and ideas
March 15-June 15,
2010
Denver International Airport
This exhibit showcases visual and literary artists associated with Colorado Art Ranch as presenters, artists in residence, or Nomads at one or more Artposia. The artists were selected because they use their passion, skills, knowledge, and talent to ask questions and react to the world around them. The work, in turn, inspires us to ask questions and view the world from different perspectives.
33 IDEAS! is on display at the Ansbacher Hall: The Art of Colorado, on the walkway between the terminal and A Gates before the security screening. The hall is accessible for everyone’s enjoyment.
